Yes. Our out-of-town process begins with a virtual review of your ophthalmic medical records. This allows Dr. Tokuhara to review your surgical history, understand your visual goals, and determine whether we can help—before you book travel.
If you’re a candidate for surgery, we’ll coordinate your travel and surgery timeline to be as efficient as possible—often within 1–2 days of your arrival. We work around your schedule and offer bundled itinerary planning.
Most out-of-town patients stay 10–14 days, depending on the case:
- Day 1: In-person exam and measurements
- Day 2: Surgery
- Day 3+: Post-operative check (may vary)
More complex surgeries may require additional follow-up. We’ll provide a personalized timeline before you travel.
We’re happy to recommend comfortable hotels near our center, some of which offer medical traveler rates. Our team can also assist with transportation guidance and planning.
You’ll leave with clear post-op instructions, and we’ll provide a direct line for follow-up questions. When needed, we coordinate your ongoing care with your local eye doctor to ensure continuity and safety.
Dr. Tokuhara routinely sees patients seeking help after unsatisfactory or complicated cataract surgery elsewhere. Whether it’s a lens exchange, unresolved vision issues, or lingering discomfort, we’ll evaluate your options honestly and thoroughly.
We accept Medicare and many third-party insurance plans. Our team will review your coverage in advance and help you understand any out-of-pocket costs. We do not participate in referral kickback arrangements and prioritize ethical, patient-first care.
International patients are welcome. We receive inquiries from around the world and can work with you to coordinate timelines, documentation, and post-travel safety guidelines.
